Screen shot tour: Creating a new Account record
This demo is a quick look at how to create new Account records in sfCRM.
Add an account
On the main account list screen, click the Add an account icon.
The add account page
The Add Account page appears. The layout of this page is determined
by your system administrator. Account name is usually the first field. In this
example layout, the Supplier
Type or Account Type is a dropdown with options of how the account is related to the
organization. The account type can be a Channel Partner, a competitor and so on.
The territory field
The territory field is a dropdown with all the territories the user is
associated with. Choose the appropriate territory. You can also set a parent Account and a
primary contact when creating an account. This is shown in Part 2 of Add an Account.
Company background
You can use the Company background field to add a brief note for the new account.
The industry type field
The Industry type field is a dropdown with all the various industry
types the organization is associated with for example Automotive, Manufacturing and so
on. New industry types can always be added. Should none match the account, the None option
can be selected.
More fields
Many more account fields are available.
Contact information for an account
The Contact Information has three sections: Address, Phone &
Email. There can be three different Addresses for an Account: a main address, a billing
address and a shipping address. One of the addresses can be selected as the primary
address. In this example, the Main address is thus selected.
Phone numbers
An account can have a main phone number, a fax number and another extra phone number
associated with an Account Record. Note the primary phone number here is the Main.
Selecting the primary phone number
As with the address, there can be only one phone number designated as primary. If the user
decided to change the other number as the primary phone number, a popup appears, warning
the user that the other phone checked as primary will be unchecked, since only one may be
marked primary.
The contact information -- email
Enter the account's email address.
Click Save to save the new Account details in the system.
Checking for the new account
On saving the new account, we are returned to the main Account List page. To find the
newly-created account, click on ’Q’ from the alpha ribbon found on the top of the page.
The account record
The new Account record Quick Sales 1 can be seen.
