Screen shot tour: How to add new contacts
Adding a contact
On the Contacts list screen, click the Add a contact icon.
The add contact page
The Add contact page appears with the relevant fields.
Enter details of a contact
Here we enter the details of the contact. Some things to note:
"Is private" option
Sometimes you might want to add personal contacts into the system. In such cases, you can
check the "Is private" box.
Private contacts have no associated territory and are visible only to the user who entered
them.
Entering contact information
There are three different addresses that can be entered for a contact: Work, Home and Other.
One of these addresses should always be selected as the primary one. This will the address
that is displayed in the main contact list page.
The primary phone number
The different phone numbers that can be entered for a contact are Work, Mobile, Home and
one more other number. If you want to change the contact’s primary phone number,
for example, from Work to Mobile, a popup appears, informing that the other phone which
was checked as the primary number will now be unchecked.
Conforming the change
Clicking the OK button, now makes the mobile phone number as the primary phone number for
the contact.
Saving details
The Save button saves the changes and returns to the main list. Clicking Save
and add saves the current contact and returns to the add contact screen, so that you
may add another contact.
Confirming details before changing
Sometimes there may be another contact in the system with the same name. In such a case, a
popup appears, alerting the user that there is already a contact with the same
name. Duplicating the same contact record can be eliminated in this manner.
Checking the contact details
From the main contact list screen, we can check if the details of the new contact have
been saved in the system. Select 'L' from the alpha ribbon.
Viewing the contact
The new contact, Mr. James Last in territory California appears. As
there was another contact already in the system with the same name, we see both contacts one
below the other.
