How to create a filter
Creating a simple filter
Choose the Filters menu option, which is found under the My sfCRM tab at the top of the page.
Filter Page Layout
The filter page layout opens up allowing us to add new filters to any of the four major entities namely Accounts, Contacts, Activities & Opportunities.
Filter name and description
The filter name and a brief description of the filter should be entered in the relevant boxes. On the Left is a list of related entities from which we can obtain the fields on which to restrict.
View of the available fields under account fields
A list of all the fields in the Accounts Entity show up. You can add fields from one or more of these entities and the system will ensure that only the correctly related records will be used to enforce the filter condition.
Selecting the relevant field
In the Filter drop down select the option in. Since Territory is a look up field, the editor shows the range of US states and let’s us choose the appropriate State in this case California.
Save criteria selection.
Click on the save button.
View the new filter.
We are back to the manage filters page and the new filter can be seen in the accounts filters section. As this is a filter created by the user it is a private filter and will not have the check mark. Filters which are created by the system administrator are public filters.
Saving the filter in the system
Click on the Save button at the bottom right of the page, to save the new filter in the system
Checking the new filter.
As it was an accounts Filter we are taken to the Main Accounts list page. Click on the filter dropdown found at the top right of the page and highlight the created filter, My California Accounts.
Territory column page
Notice under the column Territory and you will see only California. Which means the filter is in effect.
To delete a filter
Only filters created by the user can be deleted. To delete a filter we have to go back to the Manage filter page. Click Filters from the My sfCRM tab as shown.
Select the filter to be deleted
Click on the X mark next to the filter.
Dialogue box
A dialogue box pops up asking for confirmation whether the filter is to be deleted. If you are certain the filter has to be deleted press OK.
Results of deletion
Notice the filter has been deleted.
