Converting leads to opportunitiesThis demo shows the process of converting a lead into an opportunity.
Converting a lead
Select the Lead to be converted and click on the convert Lead to Opportunity icon.
The Convert Lead to Opportunity Page
The Convert Lead to Opportunity page opens up with three sections, Opportunity, Contact and
Account information. The fields are prefilled. with the data obtained when the Lead was
entered into the system.
Once a Lead is converted, it can no longer be viewed or edited as a Lead. Adding and Editing Opportunity Information
Changes or additions to the Opportunity fields can be made at this stage. Should you want to
add a name to the Referred by field, click on the icon found next to the field. The Contact
for this field should already be an existing in the system.
Choosing The Contact
With the help of the choose Contact pop up, select the Contact and click on it. The selected
name gets automatically filled in the Referred by field.
Contact Information
The Contact name recorded when the Lead was created shows up in this section. Contacts at the
Lead stage do not show up in the Contacts list until the Lead is converted to an Opportunity.
You also have the option of adding an existing Contact from the system. Click on the radio button found next to Discard Contact from Lead and use existing Contact and then click on the icon found next to the box. The Contact recorded at the Lead stage will be discarded. Choosing the new contact
The new Contact can now be selected from the choose pop up window. Clicking on the Contact
automatically enters it into the Discard Contact from Lead and use existing Contact box.
Account Information
The Account information entered when the Lead was created, shows up in this section. Just as
in Contacts, the option of creating a new Account from the Lead can be chosen.
Alternatively, the Account can be discarded and an existing Account from the system can be selected similar to the way the Contact was discarded and a new Contact was selected. Converting The Lead
After all the information is filled in, click on the Convert button for the Lead to become a
new Opportunity.
The new Opportunity
The Lead shows up as an Opportunity and can be viewed in the Opportunities list page. The
Opportunity, Contact and Account details can be viewed in their respective child entities.
